It all started late 2000s with this statement: I’M A HOUSE GANGSTER.
Mr CARLOS SOSA aka DJ SNEAK himself launched the movement that since gained worldwide popularity; and this for a great cause, the sake of HOUSE MUSIC.

At the turn of the late 2000s it became obvious that House music, its culture, its style became in great danger of being assimilated to the commercial cheesy electronic subgenre known now as to EDM. Some Media, DJs and promoters were jeopardising the HOUSE MUSIC genre by giving it a rubbish sense…

This was enough for SNEAK and he said NO to this overdose of FAKE HOUSE culture. SNEAK reacted strongly and made himself the voice of numerous UNDERGROUND producers and HOUSE Aficionados; not hesitating to clash some of the biggest ACTORS of the music SCENE who were abusing the term HOUSE to mislead crowds into their CHEAP COMMERCIAL EDM.

Urban and Underground as it should be, the movement started with style, stickers, T-shirts, snapbacks that people were wearing to show love and support to the real thing. It became also obvious that the movement was involving more and more people around the world gathering a wider crowd as well as connoisseurs.

HOUSE IS ALIVE, this is what this statement is about. It belongs to the heart of Aficionados not to the wallet of greedy locusts who want to ultimately destroy the genre leaving it for dead once they’re finished with it. History showed what happened to UNDERGROUND DISCO, no need to look further…

Early 2013, the record label I’M A HOUSE GANGSTER is launched. The idea is to federate the HOUSE GANGSTERS from all over the world. Records, podcasts, events, clothes are out to show the world what is TRUE HOUSE, and keeping it REAL.

As underground producers, we strongly believe in this movement, its force, its legacy, its legitimacy and necessity. It also really reminds us a great movement in the history of electronic music that stood to defend the TECHNO genre against, once again, the cheap commercial dance music of its time. Founded in 1989 by JEFF MILLS and MAD MIKE, the DETROIT-based collective UNDERGROUND RESISTANCE also said NO. We also think that their creed was visionary and its legacy continues through a movement like I’M A HOUSE GANGSTER :

“UNDERGROUND RESISTANCE is a label for a movement. A movement that wants change by sonic revolution. We urge you to join the resistance and help us combat the mediocre audio and visual programming that is being fed to the inhabitants of Earth, this programming is stagnating the minds of the people; building a wall between races and preventing world peace. It is this wall we are going to smash. By using the untapped energy potential of sound we are going to destroy this wall much the same as certain frequencies shatter glass. Techno is a music based in experimentation; it is music for the future of the human race. Without this music there will be no peace, no love, no vision. By simply communicating through sound, techno has brought people of all different nationalities together under one roof to enjoy themselves. Isn’t it obvious that music and dance are the keys to the universe? So called primitive animals and tribal humans have known this for thousands of years! We urge all brothers and sisters of the underground to create and transmit their tones and frequencies no matter how so called primitive their equipment may be. Transmit these tones and wreak havoc on the programmers!
