Born and raised in the German Motor City of Stuttgart, Danilo Plessow aka Motor City Drum Ensemble released some of the most acclaimed Deep House tracks of the last 3 years. His incredible set of releases entitled Raw Cuts are as famous as his DJ Kicks mix compilation on the !K7 label.

His sound is unique and blends perfectly the raw sample cutup style of Moodymann and the old school vibe of F. Communications‘ early records.

It’s hard those days to work around samples that have never been used before and Motor City Drum Ensemble is the perfect proof that this is still possible. His passion for crate digging jazz-rarities and obscure soul and disco cuts, reflects his approach in all the tracks he released so far.

Motor City Drum Ensemble is very fiddly with his production and declares releasing only one track out of five that he completes. Alongside with Pablo Valentino, the owner of the French Label Faces Records, Danilo Plessow set up his own label MCDE Recordings to release his productions. The MCDE Recordings latest release is produced by none other than the French techno pionneer Laurent Garnier with a two-tracker that’s worth a glance.

Inspired by so many different genres, Danilo Plessow and his friend Marcus Worgull recently released an electronica/ambient fourteen tracks album under the moniker Vermont on the famous German label Kompakt. After listening to Vermont, there’s no way to doubt that Motor City Drum Ensemble will keep on surprising us in the future.
