Starting up as a hip-hop Deejay in Stuttgart, Michel Baumann aka Soulphiction enjoys worldwide respect as a Deep House producer. 2014 as been a very prolific year for Soulphiction with brilliant releases such as Body & Soul, When Radio Was Boss or his remix of That Freak Stuff for Detroit Swindle.

Firstly releasing House records on Poker Flat Records as Jackmate, Michel Baumann decided in 2000 to start a side project as Soulphiction integrating more Soul, Jazz, with a more organic style into his music. Soulphiction now experiments in soulful and sampled tracks for Pampa records, Music Krauze or Philpot his own records label.

We discovered Soulphiction this year with his Live Jamz 1 EP including the Underground House hit Body & Soul now licensed to bigger indie labels such as Defected and containing the brilliant B-Side entitled All Lights go off.

In 2010 Berlin based label Sonar Kollektiv dedicated a 15 titles LP/compilation with a very broad overview of Soulphiction‘s musical talents. From Deep House, brokenbeats, to electronica and ambient, this LP really breaks the boundaries of electronic music. Soulphiction is a proof that dance music can still be organic and warm.
