The first time I put my hand on an ALAN BRAXE‘s record was in 1997 at HMV in Leeds, it was VERTIGO on ROULÉ MUSIC, insane. The build up of this track is crazy and was instantly setting up dancefloors on fire…
After a series of excellent remixes and the worldwide hit MUSIC SOUNDS BETTER WITH YOU with STARDUST (Thomas Bangalter, Benjamin Diamond and Alan Braxe), Alan started his label VULTURE MUSIC in 2000.
INTRO, his first title with FRED FALKE became intantly an underground anthem. Amongst other elements that made this title SO wicked, was the incredible funky bassline played by FRED FALKE. Killer style… and of course influential ;)
I remember talking to his cousin, DELPHINE QUEME, who was responsible for the management of VULTURE MUSIC about this title. She told me that ALAIN said that his biggest achievement was listening to his music whilst doing his groceries at the supermarket; enjoying INTRO which is a pure underground track as mainstream hit.
Talking about his nickname, it was rumoured for a long time that he chose BRAXE as a turnablist reference to the Start/Stop gimmick. In fact ALAIN only chose the name of his original home town in the South West of France : BRAX; a village next to City of TOULOUSE where he still have his family and friends like FRED FALKE.
ALAN BRAXE hosts VULTURE MUSIC parties with his cousin Stéphane ‘Bob’ Quême aka DJ FALCON every month, either in Paris or London.
