It’s November and we are back to deliver our monthly STUDIO 514 session!
This week, the time machine is set to get back to 1981-1982. At this very special period of time, Disco/Funk Music was in mutation. Tempo slowed down, synthesizers started to replace electric bass and drummers tried to mimic the drum machines. The sound was then really tight and quite avant-garde thanks to this electronic flavour.
Let’s open the show with Melba Moore and her title Love’s Comin’ At ya. Once again Evelyn King is featured in our show with Get Loose. Then, the Soul Diva Gayle Adams jumps on the Funk bandwagon with the title Love Fever.
Enjoy one hour of gems from the attic with Over Like A Fat Rat by Fonda Rae, the song is produced by Leroy Burgess who also sings the backing vocals. Then comes Fatback and I Found Lovin’, followed by Change with Miracles, this one is sung by Luther Vandross and the vocal is brilliant.
To conclude this eighth STUDIO 514 session, we picked up the extended version of the wonderful James « D » Train and his title Keep On released in 1982 on his first album You’re the One for Me.
